D.C. Bike Blog Critical of College Park Bike Lanes

Moral of the story: Our lanes could be better.

The popular D.C. bike blog "The WashCycle" has a few words of criticism for some of College Park's bike lanes.

While cyclists are of course grateful for the mere existence of bike lanes in College Park, there's certainly room for improvement. The WashCycle points to three particularly hazardous lanes in the city: One on Rhode Island Avenue near Hollywood Shopping Center, eastbound US-193 near Metzerott Road, and Rhode Island Avenue near US-193.

In some cases, bike lanes such as these can lull cyclists into a false sense of security, providing a barrier of painted lines only to have them stop abruptly or lead riders into dangerously sharp turns.
