Update: Disturbance, Winton

Three men have been charged with affray after investigations into a large disturbance that occurred at Winton on June 8.

Shortly before midnight a large fight broke out at the showgrounds involving around 20-30 people.

Two men were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and there were numerous other people treated at the scene with minor injuries.

Three local men, aged 20, 22, and 24 have been charged with affray. They are due to appear in the Winton Magistrates Court on July 17.

Police investigations into this incident are continuing.

Longreach District Officer Inspector Mark Henderson said officers from around the District will have zero tolerance towards violence and unacceptable behaviour as part of operation Banjo Hunter.

“This ongoing operation will not only target alcohol fuelled violence but will also include traffic operations aiming to reduce road trauma. We are committed to providing a safe environment for everyone in our community.”
