Off The Block Freshman All-America Team
Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University redshirt freshman outside hitter
Ryan Coenen (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) has been named to the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshman All-American Team, featuring the top NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball freshman players from the regular season.
Coenen, a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association First Team selection and MIVA Co-Freshman of the Year, averaged 3.2 kills-per-set and was second on the squad in kills (342). He recorded double-digit kills in 20 out of 27 matches and four matches of 20 kills.
Against ranked teams, Coenen finished with a team-best 189 kills and averaged 3.38 kills-per-set, while hitting .319 (189 kills, 59 errors, 408 kills) in 14 matches.
"Coenen had a tremendous season," Friend said. "It was fun to see him improve and excel as the season progressed.
"I'm looking forward to seeing what the next three years bring."
Lewis completed the 2017 campaign with a record of 23-7.
