Fort Meigs Military History Roundtable
Meets the 3rd Thursday of most months. Free & open to the public.

Relive History
Smell the smoke of the campfire; hear the crack of muskets and the roar of artillery as War of 1812 soldiers, Woodland Indian warriors, and 19th century camp followers bring history to life at Fort Meigs.

Weapon and camp life demonstrations take place throughout the weekend and recreated battles take place at 2:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Special guest Mr. Robert Stoddard, descendant of Major Amos Stoddard who was killed and buried at Fort Meigs in 1813, will be in attendance on Saturday and Monday.

Tour American and British military encampments and meet the soldiers. Explore the Woodland Indian encampment to learn about the Shawnee and other nations fighting in the War of 1812. Hands-on activities are offered all weekend long; try your hand at historic games or enlist in the mini-militia and learn how to drill like a War of 1812 soldier.

A Special Guest
This year, Fort Meigs is proud to host special guest Mr. Robert Stoddard of San Diego, California at the event. Mr. Stoddard is a direct descendant of Major Amos Stoddard, who was wounded on the opening day of the First Siege in May 1813. Major Stoddard contracted tetanus and died soon thereafter. He was buried in front of the Grand Battery at Fort Meigs and remains there today.

Robert Stoddard recently published "The Autobiography Manuscript of Major Amos Stoddard." He will be on-hand Saturday to sign copies during the event. Additionally, Mr. Stoddard will present "Major Amos Stoddard: Rendezvous with Destiny" on Saturday of First Siege 1813. His visit to Fort Meigs was graciously sponsored, in part, by the Fort Meigs volunteer association, the Old Northwest Military History Association.
