AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team dropped a tough game to Eastern division opponent, Albany State University on Thursday night, 0-3. The set scores were 16-25, 15-25 and 16-25.
With the loss, Paine drops to 10-8, overall, and 5-6 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. ASU improves 10-10 and 8-4 in league play.
The Lady Golden Rams were led by Brittanni Phillips with nine kills and Kristen Randolph with eight kills. Tiffany Roesler kept the table set with 30 assists on the night. The defensive leader for Albany State was Kaliah Carter with eight digs. Randolph and Carter accounted for two service aces apiece.
Collectively, the Lady Golden Rams finished the game with 40 kills, 37 assists, 21 digs, eight service aces, and one team block.
The leader for Paine was
Tiera Daugherty with six kills. She was followed by
Kayla Lewis and
Deja Sims-Dean with four kills each.
Totyanna Corbitt was the assist leader for the Lady Lions with nine. Defensively, Lewis led the team with seven digs. She was followed by
Lydia Elmore with six digs.
As a team, Paine ended the night with 21 kills, 21 digs, 19 assists, three team blocks, and one service ace.
The Lady Lions will return to action on Monday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. as they travel to Mt. Vernon, Ga. to face the Brewton Parker College Lady Barons.
