20 Signs You're A Jersedelphian

Maybe your parents are from Philly or maybe you used to live in the City of Brotherly Love. If you relate to this list, chances are you grew up in South Jersey, but have a special attachment to Philadelphia.

1. You think Trenton is in North Jersey.

2. A sub is a vessel that can operate completely underwater. Not a sandwich. Seriously, it is called “Hoagiefest” for a reason.

3. The PATCO is one of your main forms of transportation.

4. Philly soft pretzels are legendary.

5. Wawa isn’t a convenience store. It’s a lifestyle.

6. You drink "wooder."

7. It’s pork roll not Taylor ham.

8. You are filled with a not-so-silent rage when people say they are Yankees or Giants fans (don’t even get me started about Dallas).

9. You don’t question what is in scrapple, and you eat it regardless.

10. Tastykakes were 150 percent better before they were sold (but you still love them anyway).

11. To you, “The City” has more to do with brotherly love than apples.

12. XTU could be considered a high school reunion.

13. You know that if your want to turn left, you usually have to turn right around a jug handle.

14. The majority of your elementary school class trips were to the Liberty Bell, the Franklin institute or the Zoo.

15. You don’t know how to pump gas, and hopefully, will never have to.

16. You know where you were when the Phillies won the World Series in 2008 and most likely skipped school the next day to go to the parade.

17. Cheesesteaks could be considered their own food group, and you get into arguments with your friends about where you can get the best one.

18. Finish the sentence “Fly Eagles Fly. On the ____ __ ______.”

19. You go “down the shore” most weekends as the loyal “shoobie” that you are.

20. When people ask you where you’re from you say you’re from Philly, because it is just easier than explaining where your tiny Jersey hometown is.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
