WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State coach
Damian Clarke announced the signings of
Michaelann Greenfield and
Taylor Robinson to National Letters of Intent Thursday morning.
Greenfield earned District 8-6A Utility MVP honors while leading Mansfield (Texas) High School to a bi-district appearance this spring for coach George Velten's Tigers.
The versatile 5-4 athlete competed extensively at the club level for Fort Worth FC (2011-15), Dallas Texans (2007-11) and Solar Red (2006-07).
Her brother -- Michael Greenfield II -- played collegiately at Oral Roberts from 2012-14 before transferring to Northeastern State (Okla.) for his final two seasons of eligibility.
"Michaelann is an attacking player, who we are excited to add this late in the recruiting cycle," Clarke said. "She is going to add some depth and competition in the midfield for our program. She will do well to compete athletically as well as give us a player who can run well with the ball at her feet and push the pace of the game."
Greenfield joins Rohleder as the second product from the Fort Worth FC to sign with the Mustangs in the 2015 class.
Robinson played a role in helping Rowlett High to the UIL state playoffs in each of the last two seasons for coach Jason Fegraeus as the Eagles reached the area round this season after playing for a bi-district title in 2014.
The 5-3 midfielder garnered All-District 11-6A honorable mention as a senior after earning second-team accolades as a junior.
Robinson enjoyed a solid club run as a prep playing last two seasons for Jimmy Elder's Andromeda FC '98G side in the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League.
She also competed for FC Dallas Premier (2013-14), FC Dallas East (2011-13) and Sting East (2010-11) in previous seasons.
"Taylor is going to add to our depth in the center of the park," Clarke said. "She is a player with lots of tools, who is fundamentally very sound. Her vision and passing ability are also very good. We are fortunate to have committed a player with her potential this late in the year. She is a welcomed addition to the 2015 class."
The duo joins a group of five student-athletes inked during the early signing period including transfer
Taylor Bicknell (Howard Payne) and prep standouts
Jaden Green (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite HS),
Imani Morlock (Rio Rancho, N.M./Rio Rancho HS), Hayley Rohleder (Burleson, Texas/Joshua HS) and
Sarah Stewart (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS).
Midwestern State is set to return 10 of 11 starters off of last season's Lone Star Conference semifinalist squad.
