Brie Larson will star as Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for president in the United States, Deadline reports. The Oscar winner will also produce the film, which has been acquired by Amazon Studios (so prepare to stream it when it premieres). Ben Kolpit (The Libertine) is set to pen the script, while Lloyd Braun and Andrew Mittman will produce alongside the actress.

Woodhull, a leading figure in the American suffragist movement, became the first female candidate to run for office in 1872. That was nearly 50 years before the 19th amendment gave women the right to vote in 1920. The feminist icon is a fitting role for Larson, who is vocal on women's issues and has openly supported victims of sexual violence. (She also portrayed one in her Oscar-winning performance for Room.)

So far, there are no details on when the project will release or even begin filming, but we already can't wait.
