Update: Both Suspects Admit to Murder of DeSha-Overcash, Police Say

Update, 2:26 p.m.: Both Stephan Weaver and Deandre Ricardo Williams have admitted to their involvement in the murder of Justin DeSha-Overcash, said police spokesperson Cpl. Erica Johnson.

Johnson was unable to provide additional information on the events that led to the arrests.

In addition to first-degree murder, Weaver is also being charged with armed robbery and first-degree assault. A preliminary hearing has been set for him on April 22. A hearing has not yet been scheduled for Williams.

Original story: Two men are under arrest and have been charged for the of University of Maryland student , Prince George's County Police reported.

Stephan Weaver, 22, of Bowie and Deandre Ricardo Williams, 23, of Washington, D.C., were arrested on charges of first-degree murder, according to a statement released by county police.

Weaver was arrested on March 26, and Williams was arrested in D.C. on Wednesday, according to police spokesperson Cpl. Erica Johnson. Police have determined the motive to be robbery.

DeSha-Overcash, a 22-year-old senior double majoring in physics and astronomy, was shot to death in his home on 38th Avenue on Jan. 11. The shooting was likely the result of an attempted drug robbery gone awry, police said at the time, based on the presence of marijuana-related paraphernalia found in the house.

According to the press release, Weaver has been remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro on a no-bond status. Williams was arrested in Washington, D.C., with the assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department and is currently awaiting extradition.
