How to Theft-Proof a VW Van

Fortunately, I live in an area where there aren’t too many car thefts. However, there are definitely parts of the world where its a very common crime. While I was surprised to learn that a modern day Volkswagen van would be of much appeal to a car thief, apparently it is.

That’s why one person took it upon themselves to make their vehicle far less appealing to would-be thieves. By having UK outfit Clyde Wraps install a custom-designed vinyl wrap, they transformed this well cared for contemporary van into an old rustbucket. It’s a great idea that reminds me of the old SNL commercial for the Chameleon XLE, a luxury car that could turn itself into a beater as a theft deterrent.

While the vinyl decals are removable, the big downside to this is that the the vehicle has to look like a hunk of junk all of the time.
