Comedy world mourns death of Jo-Anna Downey

Standup and ‘mama of the comedy scene’ who ran open mic night at Spirits had been battling ALS.

The comedy community in Toronto and beyond is mourning the loss of Jo-Anna Downey.

The standup comedian, who hosted two popular comedy nights in the city, had ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She died Thursday night.
