Special Instructions
Janet Sue has received her kidney and one of the best ways you can help the family is by providing meals for her & Gordon during this time of healing! With receiving a new kidney, she now is taking medication that has lowered her immune system and she will not be able to fight germs as well. Due to this she will not be available for visitors, (even the grandchildren are having to use FaceTime and aren’t allowed to visit 😊), but soon visitors will be allowed! There will be a cooler placed on the front porch to place your meals in and please text Gordon when they have been delivered: 404-583-2680. Healthy eating is an important part of the healing after transplant and she does have a few restrictions. Please see below for allergies and restrictions. One of the things she can be at risk for is that food borne illness. So in preparing food for Janet Sue please make sure that all foods are cooked and cleaned thoroughly. Poultry or casseroles should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees. Ground meet or egg dishes cooked to an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees. Steaks, pork and roasts should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees. Yes that's a lot but it's so important in keeping her well!
