SUPPORT SB 375
"Keep Faith in Adoption and Foster Care Act"

Dear Pro-life Friend,

The "Keep Faith in Adoption and Foster Care Act", SB 375, has been approved by the Georgia Senate and still has to be voted on in the House. The bill is designed to encourage more faith-based adoption agencies to operate in Georgia, and to avoid discriminatory regulations that would force them to compromise on their religious principles when placing children for adoption
in our state.

We are emailing today to ask you to reach out to Governor Deal, Speaker Ralston and Chairman Willard to ask for
their support for SB 375. Contact information is below.

The bill is presently in the House Judiciary Committee awaiting a hearing and a vote, and it must pass in the House to make it to the Governor's desk by the 40th day, March 29.

The sponsor of the bill, Senator William Ligon of Brunswick, said: "The goal is to open as many doors as possible for those children that are in need of homes, and this bill will do that." There are now multiple faith-based adoption agencies in Georgia that cannot do business with the state because of the way their contract is written.

Georgia Right to Life Stands behind SB 375
Our faith-based organization, Georgia Right to Life, strongly supports adoption at every level, which is why we stand behind the passage of this legislation. The State of Georgia has a constitutional duty to protect the First Amendment freedoms for religious persons and their institutions. This legislation is specifically designed to protect faith-based adoption agencies from future discrimination.

Faith-based child-placement agencies in three states including Illinois, Massachusetts, and California; and in the District of Columbia, have shut down due to state policies that discriminate against their sincerely held religious beliefs regarding the biblical view of the family. Please reach out to Governor Deal, Speaker Ralston and Chairman Willard to prevent this very thing from happening here in Georgia.

Please call and/or email these offices today:

Judiciary Committee Chairman Wendell Willard's office: Contact via email at [email protected] and telephone to (404) 656-5125.
