Send Angus to Austria

Donation protected
At the age of 14 and with only 18 months of climbing experience, the Sunshine Coast’s own Angus Simpson has been selected to represent Australia as part of Sport Climbing Australia’s, International Youth Team (Lead) 2017. Angus is now off to Austria for the 2017 Youth Climbing World Championship in Innsbruck, from 30.08.2017 - 10.09.2017.

Recently Angus competed in the 2017 Clif Bar Youth Climbing Championships in Melbourne where he placed 3rd (with a broken finger!) in Lead on the second day of competition. Angus’s dedication to climbing is evident, with countless hours spent either at Rockit Climbing Gym or outdoors, most often at the Coolum Cave.

It hasn’t been an easy road for Angus and his family with his broken finger just the beginning. Angus broke a bone in his foot and miraculously was cleared to climb by his doctor after just a week in a cast. The doctor also said that his broken finger shouldn’t effect his climbing. Angus has proven that he is fit to climb, coming back to onsite a 25 in the gym. Just when things were looking up, very recently Angus and his family were dealt bad news, with his father unexpectedly passing away. Throughout all this, Angus continues to train.

We all want to see Angus get to Austria to represent Australia, QLD and the Sunshine Coast, but he needs help to meet the financial commitments required to compete at this international event. Entry fees, airfares and accommodation are just some of the expenses that needs to be covered in a short period of time. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated by Angus and his family.
