KAMPALA - Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi has been relieved of her duties as Express football club chairperson, although the club chief executive officer (CEO), Muzafaru Ssebagala, told New Vision that she had gone on leave.

"She requested for leave so that she concentrates with her ministerial duties," Ssebagala said.

Haji Hassan Bulwadda, who has taken over as interim chairman, will oversee the club for six months.

Nakiwala came into office in 2016, replacing Francis Ntalazi.

During her time as the club chairperson, players have not been contracted and there has been a lot of reshuffling among coaches and CEOs.

Nakiwala, who also doubles as the Minister for Youth and Children, reportedly did not live to her expectations as she had earlier promised when she took over office.

Her departure comes at a time when Express FC has been struggling in the league.

They face relegation to the second tier league for the first time since they are currently at bottom in the league.

They have only picked one win in their last eight league games.
