Zombie Cliche Lookout: Getting Intel

At the beginning of the zombie outbreak, your intelligence needs are going to focus entirely around the zeds. You need to figure out what they’re capable of, what they aren’t, and how to kill them. These pieces of information come at an extremely high cost. Many, many people will die and swell the ranks of the zombie horde before people start figuring out how to deal with them.

Of course, once people get a reasonable handle on the zombie problem, new problems show up. In the genre, the biggest and hoariest of these problems is that of hostile people, and this is where intelligence gets a little more difficult. Zombies are, to be frank, dumb. People, on the other hand, can be very tricky. Learning things about them can be extremely difficult, even more so if the people you’re trying to learn about are aware of you trying to figure them out, and take steps to stop you.

About this Episode:

That second panel there? When I originally conceived it, it didn’t include that last part. The bad guys would simply be demanding their stuff. But you guys in the comments made things much, much more sinister, so I decided to steal that wholesale.

Discussion Question: Spies?

In the comments in the last episode, the idea of using spies to suss out what the bad guys are doing was introduced. And, almost as soon as BrickVoid introduced the idea, the issue became clouded. How exactly would one hire spies? Where would they come from, and how would they infiltrate the bad guys? I thought these were really interesting questions. And what do I do with interesting questions? I steal them, and then pose them to my readers like I’m the clever one who came up with them.

  1. The only typo for today is the following one:

“I thought these were really interesting question.” question–questions 😀

It gets even more interesting once i consider Dave stole my question from me, and even looked as if he was trying to give me credit, partially! 😀

But it’s all good, dave did come up with this based off comments that were made and I am completely 100% okay with that! 😀 Even in a zombie apocalypse.

    • Fixed! Also, I totally gave you credit.

  2. When Murphy says this group, is he implying the one she’s in, or the one that they’re trying to do something about? It could read either way although English structure would tend to subversively point to the other group! 😀

    • He means the third group that is threatening these new people.

  3. It’s been months, and Russell can’t find anything better than that HUGE wrench?

Also, jess has a nice little weapon there. Would have thought the “bad guys” Would have taken that by now. Interesting.

    • Interesting indeed.

Also, maybe Russell just love that wrench. Maybe it has a name. A women’s name.

    • If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

If it is broke, the wrench might be just the tool he needs. 😀

    • Maybe that’s why they’re hostile? They tried to get her weapon off her, but she wouldn’t let them anywhere near her! 😀
