What is the Whole30? From Co-Creator Melissa Hartwig

"Certain food groups (like sugar, grains, dairy and legumes) could be having a negative impact on your health and fitness without you even realizing it. Are your energy levels inconsistent or non-existent? Do you have aches and pains that can’t be explained by over-use or injury? Are you having a hard time losing weight no matter how hard you try? Do you have some sort of condition, like skin issues, digestive ailments, seasonal allergies, or chronic pain, that medication hasn’t helped? These symptoms are often directly related to the foods you eat—even the “healthy” stuff. So how do you know if (and how) these foods are affecting you?

Strip them from your diet completely. Eliminate the most common craving-inducing, blood sugar disrupting, gut-damaging, inflammatory food groups for a full 30 days. Let your body heal and recover from whatever effects those foods may be causing. Push the reset button with your health, habits, and relationship with food, and the downstream physical and psychological effects of the food choices you’ve been making. Learn how the foods you’ve been eating are actually affecting your day-to-day life, long term health, body composition, and feelings around food. The most important reason to keep reading?

Our challenge will provide you with Two InBody scans that will measure your body composition.  "Body composition is a method of describing what the body is made of, including fat protein, minerals and body water. It’s also describes weight more accurately than BMI. Body composition analysis can accurately show changes in fat mass, muscle mass and body fat percentage."

We will be doing a two part challenge here is what you get:  

Part 1:  Whole30 - this includes two InBody Scans (one at the beginning of the challenge and one at the end of the 30 days), the Whole30 Day by Day book/journal as well as the CrossFit Five Plus Whole30 Facebook Group.  In this group you will receive the support of others also participating as well as Coach's Chris and Sarah who will answer questions and give advice on how to excel!

Part 2:  Lifestyle 30 - these next 30 days will be a reintroduction period of different foods to see how your body responds as well as discovering how to make the new approach to eating sustainable longterm.

The total cost of this program is $50.

How do I start?  

Come to Coach Sarah's Whole 30 Workshop on January 20th at 10AM.  She will explain the "why" behind this style of eating, how to succeed in the challenge as well as answer any questions you might have on this program.  She will also be Joined by Dr. Ryan Hewitt of In8 Wellness who will explain more in depth how the InBody scans work and why they are important markers to understand in your overall health and fitness.
