Cholesterol lowering lentil and spinach soup

Many say “souping” is the new juicing. The great thing about soup is that it is easy to make, and it combines all the nutrients in the healthy foods that you use and keeps them alive and potent in the bowl. This cholesterol lowering lentil and spinach soup is packed with ingredients that lower cholesterol naturally.

Himalayan salt:
It is an unprocessed, unrefined, and raw salt, packed with many essential ingredients like nature intended.

Lentils:
Lentils and other legumes are great sources of iron, which is a nutrient that the body needs to metabolize fats that we eat. They also reduce cholesterol.

Garlic:
This herb is a potent healing medicine. It has strong anti-inflammatory properties and is even known to reduce the inflammation caused by arthritis. Garlic helps reduce cardiovascular risks and is known to lower levels of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol).

Onions:
Onions are packed with antioxidants, the most potent being quercetin. This antioxidant provides anti-inflammatory benefits. Onions are great for cholesterol health, as they increase levels of HDL cholesterol, which is good cholesterol that your body needs.

Rosemary:
This potent herb has shown many benefits, including anti-inflammatory properties, anti-cancer benefits, and memory protection. It also has phytochemicals that are believed to reduce LDL cholesterol levels.

Directions:

In a large saucepan, cook 1 minced clove of garlic and 1 diced onion
Once onions and garlic become soft, add 4 cups of vegetable broth
Add a sprig of fresh rosemary, 2 chopped tomatoes, and 1 cup of lentils
Turn the heat down to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes
With 5 minutes left, add 3 cups of baby spinach
Season with Himalayan pink salt and black pepper to taste
1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper can added if you like spice (optional)
Once spinach is cooked, remove from heat and serve

Make sure ingredients are organic and to wash all produce thoroughly
