You may not know her name, but Mary Ellen Trainor was undoubtedly a star.
After marrying her husband, director Robert Zemeckis, in 1980, she went on to star as the kidnapped sister of Kathleen Turner’;s character in his film, Romancing The Stone.
Mary went on to appear in a number of his films, including Forrest Gump, Death Becomes Her and Back To The Future II, before they divorced in 2000.
The talented actress went on to star as a television reporter in Die Hard, and bagged a part in Ghostbusters II.
She also portrayed L.A. police psychiatrist Dr. Stephanie Woods in all four of the Lethal Weapon films, and teamed up with director Richard Donner on The Goonies and Scrooged as well.
It has now tragically been revealed that Mary lost her battle with pancreatic cancer last month, at the age of 62.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, a lifelong friend, made the announcement, saying: "Mare and I have been close since our days together as college roommates, and she even provided the introduction to Steven Spielberg that jumpstarted my career.
"She was a great actress, warm friend and generous spirit."
Mary is survived by her and Robert Zemecki’s son, Alex; her mother, Jane; and her siblings Ned, Jack, Barbara and Carolyn.
Our thoughts are with her family at this time.
