On Wednesday, Jan 27, a tornado with 100 mph winds overturned cars and uprooted trees in Florida, representing what seems like a realistic movie scene.

On Tuesday, Jan 26, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned about heavy rainfall that may cause flooding and 1 or 2 tornadoes.

"Heavy rainfall expected Wed-Thur with flooding possible in urban areas," NWS tweets. "A few strong-severe storms possible as well."

True enough, heavy rainfalls came soaking the area the next day.

NWS conducted a survey late Wednesday and confirmed that an EF-1 tornado hit the northwest of the intersection between the Florida turnpike and Atlantic Avenue.

The tornado pulled hardwood trees and caused wreckage of fences located at Palmetto Drive and Coconut Creek Boulevard.

Meanwhile, the Service also reported that power lines were interrupted across the North campus of Broward College. This happened following several car tosses in the parking space of the Health and Sciences building of the school.

When the tornado reached the Coconut Creek Parkway, which is located at the west part of the turnpike, a community bus flipped causing one person to be injured.

The tornado continued to intensify as it crossed along the mid-level Wynmoor Village Condo complex, which according to reports sustained the most damage. Aside from trees, numerous light poles also broke. The tornado damaged the fences and roofs of the units moderately.

When the tornado reached the side of the turnpike near the mile marker 67 entrance and exit, a number of cars were overturned once again. One car travelling southbound flipped and landed all the way to the northbound side, causing a minor injury.

The winds also caused a tractor trailer to flip.

The strength of the tornado dwindled down as it crossed to the east area of the turnpike and was finally lifted off near Copans Road.

NWS issued warnings for Broward and Palm Beach counties on Wednesday morning. The agency continued to provide warnings and updates in its Twitter account as information came.
