SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Deadline: May 15, 2018
Abdelkader Global Leadership Prize contests are open to students enrolled at high schools and colleges in the United States, including exchange students. Learn about a humanitarian and forerunner of the Geneva Convention. Hearts and minds are changed through the ethical and moral values of this admired Muslim Hero.

* Why does Emir Abdelkader’s life story and legacy deserve remembering today?
* What lessons did you derive from reading about him?
* What is relevant for our global society? What is relevant to your own life?
* Reflect on Abdelkader’s education as compared to your own education.

Ambassador of the Year
H.E. Madjid Bouguerra -- Algeria's Ambassador to the U.S. – was honored as “Ambassador of the Year” by the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce on December 14 at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington DC. NUSACC President/CEO David Hamod presented Bouguerra with his award at the VIP luncheon. AEP Co-Founder Kathy Garms paid tribute to Ambassador Bouguerra for his friendship, his support of the Abdelkader Education Project, and for encouraging Algeria and the U.S to continue collaborative efforts on common ground, the legacy of Emir Abdelkader. Sponsors included Lockheed Martin, Bloomberg Grain, ORUS Agriculture, Raytheon, PhRMA International, Dow and GE.
H.E. Madjid Bouguerra received three awards: "Ambassador of the Year" from David Hamod, NUSACC President/CEO, and Nancy Ziuzin Schlegel, NUSACC Board Member and VP of International Government Affairs, Lockheed Martin; "Honorary Citizen of Elkader" from Josh Pope, Mayor of Elkader; and a "Commemorative Brick for Mascara Park" from Kathy Garms, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Abdelkader Education Project based in Elkader, Iowa.
