A curving pool house created to link separated parts of a family home, situated between a Grade II-listed farmhouse and a barn

The project was to create a poolhouse for a residence in the Chilterns that could also accommodate exercise and study areas. These are situated directly below the pool, with the pool at ground level looking out onto a limestone terrace.

The building takes precedent from its rural surroundings as well as the interest of the architect in Japanese archtiecture and construction. The thatched roof is moulded into one continuous form and inside the plastered ceiling has an arced peak that traces the defining curve of the plan.
