Gov. Rick Snyder lowers flags in honor of former state Rep. Keith Muxlow

Gov. Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered to half-staff Monday, Nov. 27, within the state Capitol complex in honor of former state Rep. Keith Muxlow, who died Tuesday, Nov. 21.

“Rep. Muxlow served his country and state with dignity and he will be dearly missed by all those who knew him,” Snyder said. “I send my most sincere condolences to his family, friends and community.”

Muxlow served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator from 1955-1957. He later served eight years as Mayor of Brown City and six terms in the Michigan House of Representatives.

A service in his honor will take place Monday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church located at 415 N. 9th Street in St. Clair.

This flag order is in accordance with Executive Order 2013-10. Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments and other organizations are encouraged to display the flag at half-staff. Flags should be returned to full staff on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
