They are still working on setting up their equipment and final CDFA inspections on their new facility -- please be patient. We're sorry for the delay, but it's very hard work to set-up and license a whole new manufacturing facility. SFRAW'S LAMB TRIPE comes from grass-fed and finished lamb from the only US ranch to pasture raise sheep year-round. The lambs graze on grasses through winter and into May. Come summer, they forage unfarmed hillside pine and fir groves. With year-round free-range pasture, there’s never need for hay or grains, or antibiotics or growth hormones. The lambs roam free, eat when they’re hungry, breed on their own, and grow according to the rhythms of nature. Lambs are humanely processed at the ranch’s vertically integrated Temple Grandin designed abattoir; the experience is low-stress from start to finish.
Our green tripe is simply rinsed for foreign object removal, then bagged up, frozen and sent to us bulk, intact. This tripe is VERY ripe and smelly; a special, highly nutritious experience for your dogs.
Green Tripe has a natural 1:1 Ca:Ph ratio; it provides enzymes and Lactobacillus Acidophilus (good for the gut). It is a great food for dogs experiencing renal or appetite issues; 15% highly digestible protein, 11-12% fat (with a balanced essential fatty acid profile). Green tripe also provides an estimated 13.21 mg/kg manganese on an 'as fed' basis; an important nutrient for raw feeders that eschew plant based ingredients.
Please note: We are offering unprocessed, whole tripe pieces from lamb (and soon, beef). Our tripe is not ground nor packaged into 1-lb, 2-lb portion sized chubs/rolls in retail ready packs like GreenTripe or Hare-Today tripe containing products. New local source of whole ducks coming to us from our friends @creamco_meats - very excited to try these in this week's Duck Grind & Formula. They also sent extra duck heads & feet! They look amazing...check out that healthy, buttery colored fat and dark meat. Awesome nutritional profile from these bio-dynamic farmed, pasture-raised ducks!! Outstanding.
ALPACA UPDATE: ETA 2/28-ISH
Yay! After his usual processor changed hands and no longer offered alpaca meat processing; our dogged rancher finally secured a state licensed local processor that is able to properly handle and certify his meat for retail sales via their inspection services (fit for human consumption). The alpacas are scheduled for slaughter Tuesday 2/20/18 with shipping via refrigerated freight to us early the following week. We will let you know when the order arrives.
The rancher has put together this "cut sheet" (see image to your left) for us indicating which cuts we are ordering from the processor/what we can expect to receive, what they are willing to do (some things I asked for, they will not do -- certain organs & tripe, for example). It also shows how the different cuts will be packaged.
Very exciting to get so many choices for this highly sustainable meat raised with care and commitment. This order has been a very long-time in the works and we're glad it's finally moving along with a firm ETA!
FOLLOW "WHAT GROOVY EATS"!

Cats & Friends, too! There will be appearances by Groovy's new "brother kitty", Briar (raw since since 4.5 weeks old, almost 12 years of age) and other friends. Once our turtles come out of hibernation, you may even seen their meals get featured.
We hope each video will provide information or tips/tricks, so you can hopefully expand your knowledge about raw feeding, natural nutrition, Natural Rearing/remedies and related topics. The host and crew of "This is SF" was here Friday afternoon filming SFRAW for their pet episode. This new lifestyle program airs nationally on CBS and the CW channel (spring 2018). Their first season started with "This is LA" and next season will be "This is NY". In addition, our segment/the show will be distributed to airport lounge channels and high-end hotels, too. Exciting! SEEKING HEALTHY, RAW FED POOP DONORS TO HELP SICK DOGS/CATS!
"I work at AnimalBiome, a small Oakland-based company that offers oral fecal transplant pills for cats and dogs with chronic digestive issues. And we're looking for some local poop donors! We try to make it as easy as possible: for most donors, the owner just puts the poop outside their door a couple times a week on days that are convenient for them. Then we come pick it up. Oakland & Berkeley area is ideal, but San Francisco would work, too, for a qualified donor.
TO QUALIFY, YOUR ANIMAL MUST BE 100% RAW FED AND MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
No health issues at any point in their lives, though there are some exceptions, like congenital bone deformities, or a bout of intestinal worms as a puppy, are acceptable.
No food or environmental allergies.
High energy is fine, but no excessive anxiety or hyperactivity (Researchers gave normal mice a fecal transplant using stool from an anxious person, and after not too long, the mice began pacing, wringing their hands, etc. Crazy stuff!)
Last thing is age: for cats, between 1 and 10 years would be ideal; for dogs, between 1 and 8 years.
Things that don't matter: breed, sex, size, vaccine status, neutered/unneutered.

DOO-DAH THE BEAGLE SEEKS LOVING RAW FED FOREVER HOME
One of our dearest members has been fostering a rescued Beagle named Doo-Dah who is seeking a special forever home. We'd love for her to find a new family within the SFRAW community, if possible! She has come such a long way without any formal behavior work - she loves and gets along with everyone: kids, dogs cats, men/women. However, she does resource guard any stolen food that she gets a hold of (and, being a Beagle, she's always on the hunt for food/snacks!) Please contact: Jan Sarvis for more information. "We, deep animal lovers, have been fostering a Beagle, for 15 months. She was rescued from an extremely dire situation with an alcoholic owner where she suffered neglect and starvation. Because she was deprived of food, she has enormous food issues, completely understandable, and she developed some aggression around food. Not when she is being fed, (which she waits patiently for), but if she finds and steals food, she will guard this aggressively. She has grown tremendously while here with us. She is a very loving creature and a beautiful dog. She loves to snuggle, has wonderful intuition about others, and makes friends with everyone. But because we have so many animals here, these issues have made us realize she is not a match for us and our menagerie, though she is friendly with all. We love her and hope to find a special person for her. There is much to say here, We are in our mid 70's, and have been dealing with illness which makes the food management issues with our other animals unworkable and exhausting.
