MAEOE Conference
Our education team attended the 33rd Annual Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) Conference in Ocean City. This year, MCBP coordinated the Exhibit Hall and offered three conference scholarships for local teachers to attend. 
Delmarva Birding Weekend
MCBP staff were given the opportunity to attend the Winter Delmarva Birding Weekend! We explored Public Landing, Berlin Falls Park, and Golden Quarter Farm, all while learning about local wildlife. For more birding opportunities, visit delmarvabirding.com
Watermen's Convention
MCBP attended the Maryland Watermen's Association's 44th Annual East Coast Commercial Fishermen's & Aquaculture Trade Show to recruit local watermen for our ghost crab pot removal program and to raise awareness about the impact these pots have on our bay species. 
OC Presentation
MCBP Executive Director, Frank Piorko, presented an overview of the 2016 Report Card and OC Partnership award to the Mayor and City Council. Ocean City was one of five gold star partners recognized in our 2016 Report Card.

Summer Internship Opportunities
We are now hiring summer interns!

MCBP is seeking qualified applicants for two paid summer internships with a focus in environmental science and education. 

We are looking for highly motivated, upper level undergraduates or recent graduates majoring in environmental science, environmental studies, biology, education, or other related fields.

Farewell to our Seasonal Scientist!
MCBP bids adieu to Brenna!  

Our summer intern turned seasonal scientist, Brenna Waite, is turning in her MCBP badge and heading to graduate school down under! During her time with MCBP, Brenna has been instrumental in organizing our Ocean Pines Bay Day, monitoring the success of our green bulkheads, and implementing our amazing educational programs. Brenna will be studying conservation biology at the University of Western Australia, with a research focus on submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV). We wish her the best as she continues on her journey!
Delaware Wetlands Conference
Wetland Presentations Galore!

Our science team attended the Delaware Wetlands Conference where our Science Coordinator, Roman Jesien, presented on the success of our Lizard Hill wetland restoration site. Our Seasonal Scientist, Brenna Waite, and Environmental Scientist, Katherine Phillips, also presented a poster on the results of MCBP's Green Bulkhead monitoring project. 
Bay Day at Ocean Pines
Save the date!

Join the Maryland Coastal Bays Program and the Ocean Pines Association for a day of fun, hands-on activities and educational talks about how watershed residents can make a difference right in their own backyards.  From bay-friendly backyard guidance to educational exhibits, this day is sure to entertain! 

This event launches a collaborative campaign to encourage residents to accept the challenge of improving the health of the local St. Martin River.  Mark your calendars for the OP Bay Day on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 11:30-3:30.
