‘KAPAL NG MUKHA’

Sara hits Alvarez for allegedly saying he can impeach Duterte

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday took to the social media to lash out at Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez for supposedly calling her a part of the political opposition and claiming that he had the power to impeach President Rodrigo Duterte.

The President's daughter also threatened to make another revelation regarding Alvarez on Friday.

"Ano sabi mo in a crowd, 'President iba siya, Speaker ako, I can always impeach him!” And you call me opposition? Somebody should really tell the President about the truth," Sara said.

"Kung asshole ka sa Congress, don’t bring that to Davao, leave it in Manila. Somebody should tell the President what you are doing. How dare you call me part of the opposition. Kapal ng mukha mo. You messed with the wrong girl," she said in another post.

It was not clear when Alvarez made those statements against Sara.

Sought for comment, Alvarez denied making such statements.

"I never said those things and i will never say those things," Alvarez told GMA News Online in a text message.

"I supported the President and will always support him," he added.

The younger Duterte's statement came following her decision to form a regional party separate from the ruling PDP-Laban.

Alvarez, in response then, said the mayor's move to form a regional party was a "non-issue."

In a separate statement, the mayor said the formation of the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago with the four governors of the Davao region had the blessing of the President.

"Even the use of the word Hugpong as the name of our regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago has the President’s approval. I also specifically informed the President that I will not join PDP Laban," said Sara, the party chairperson.

"The Speaker’s latest media statement that he respects the creation of Hugpong ng Pagbabago or that the unity is a non-issue, was unfortunately betrayed by his comment on political dynasties," the mayor said, referring to Alvarez's view that its formation was an indication of dominance of political families in the country.

She then urged Alvarez to pass a law to implement the constitutional provision banning political dynasties. —NB/BM, GMA News
