Reopen the Hillary Investigation

Reopen the Hillary Investigation

The Comey exoneration of Hillary smelled bad on July 5, 2016, and now it stinks.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/12/14/comey-edits-revealed-remarks-on-clinton-probe-were-watered-down-documents-show.html

The July 5,2016 statement by James Comey declining to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her mishandling of classified information never passed the smell test.

After Comey spent 15 minutes laying out, in brutal detail, all of Hillary’s misdeeds and lies, Comey abruptly determined that no prosecution was warranted because no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges. Yet that wasn’t Comey’s decision to make as FBI Director, it was a decision for the prosecutors at DOJ.

Since then, we know that the investigation of Hillary was not bona fide, and certainly not what would have been conducted as to an average citizen. It has come out that the initial draft of Comey’s statement was drafted almost two months before the July 5 public statement, and before the FBI had interviewed key witnesses, including Hillary. The timing of the interview of Hillary being held just days prior to Comey’s statement raised suspicions that the interview was perfunctory and for show, and the timing of the drafting supports that view.

Now it comes out that the edits by unknown persons to the initial draft substantially toned down the findings as to Hillary. Fox News reports, Comey edits revealed: Remarks on Clinton probe were watered down, documents show:

Newly released documents obtained by Fox News reveal that then-FBI Director James Comey’s draft statement on the Hillary Clinton email probe was edited numerous times before his public announcement, in ways that seemed to water down the bureau’s findings considerably.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, sent a letter to the FBI on Thursday that shows the multiple edits to Comey’s highly scrutinized statement.

In an early draft, Comey said it was “reasonably likely” that “hostile actors” gained access to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email account. That was changed later to say the scenario was merely “possible.”

Another edit showed language was changed to describe the actions of Clinton and her colleagues as “extremely careless” as opposed to “grossly negligent.” This is a key legal distinction.

Johnson, writing about his concerns in a letter Thursday to FBI Director Christopher Wray, said the original “could be read as a finding of criminality in Secretary Clinton’s handling of classified material.”

He added, “The edited statement deleted the reference to gross negligence – a legal threshold for mishandling classified material – and instead replaced it with an exculpatory sentence.”

The edits also showed that references to specific potential violations of statutes on “gross negligence” regarding classified information and “misdemeanor handling” were removed.

The final statement also removed a reference to the “sheer volume” of classified information discussed on email.

“While the precise dates of the edits and identities of the editors are not apparent from the documents, the edits appear to change the tone and substance of Director Comey’s statement in at least three respects,” Johnson wrote Thursday.

The revelation about these edits, long before the evidence was gathered, is particularly troubling in light of evidence that one of the key investigators, Peter Strzok, harbored severe anti-Trump views, as revealed in text messages.

The whole thing smelled bad on July 5, 2016, and now it stinks.

Jeff Sessions needs to order DOJ and the FBI to reopen the investigation. Whether there are grounds to prosecute Hillary never has been legitimately determined by the FBI and DOJ. It’s time for that process to see itself through untainted.

Donald J. T=rump needs to order the investigation re-opened. It’s his to do.

Anybody that has ever had a Secret or above clearance with the military or government knew what total and utter partisan bullshit the exoneration of Clinton was.

If I did what Hillary had did I would be in JAIL right now. There is zero question.

The FBI investigation into Clinton was a fucking joke and is the biggest reason the FBI now has zero respect from the American public.

You’re certainly right that she’s guilty as hell, and if you, or I had done what she did, we’d spend many years in a federal prison. But, this is more a matter of politics than law, and what would happen to most people charged with this crime is not likely to happen to her.

It would be nearly impossible to pick a jury that would convict her. I don’t know how a prosecutor could screen prospective jurors in a way that could exclude her supporters. It would take only one rabid, leftist Hillary fan on a jury to refuse to vote to convict her, regardless of the evidence. And, if she were to be convicted, it would only take one leftist, political-hack appeals court judge to invent some pretext to reverse the conviction, or, failing that, to prohibit her being sent to prison for health reasons.

It’s possible that she might be kept going around and around in court for the rest of her life, but it’s unlikely she would ever see the inside of a prison. The question that would have to be considered before a decision is made to prosecute her is whether they think it worthwhile to do it in order to put unquestionable evidence of her guilt before the public, but with a slim chance of conviction, and even less of locking her up. I would probably go for it, but I’m not in the position to decide.

All of that is true; however, the entire country has seen proof of criminal activity and if the justice system doesn’t at least go through the motions, well, we begin to look a little third world-ish.

You’re probably right that this would wind up being a case of jury nullification.

But sometimes the process is the punishment, and she needs to be punished until she starts pushing up daisies at which point her grave will probably be a very popular place for dog walking.

The prosecutors would need to make her accept a plea deal. How much does hillary love her daughter?

As an Intel professional with close to 37 years of service in the field, Comey’s dereliction of duty was a slap in my face. I would have been locked up in a heartbeat.

I wasn’t an intel guy, but am also a Navy Mustang with 30 years holding a TS and I’d STILL be in jail had I done what Hillary and her minions did. Comey, Lisa Page, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok and others at FBI HQ whitewashed the investigation and they all need to go to federal prison.

For those Feebs that put party above duty = that is the definition of being a traitor. I leave it to the LEO community to decide what kind of punishment it deserves.

First, you need to investigate and prosecute Comey (and anyone else involved in the scam). This destroys their credibility and makes it impossible to defend an investigation that stinks.

    neanderthal in reply to Matt_SE. | December 15, 2017 at 4:35 pm

Exactly right. The worst thing about the sham investigation of Hillary Clinton is not that Hillary escaped punishment, but that the FBI and DOJ corrupted themselves to ensure it.

And practically speaking, the moment an investigation is re-opened into Hillary Clinton’s violations, the media will being screaming that the Trump administration is a banana republic for even considering it. And many conservatives will agree with that assessment, because they hate Trump, are strangely comfortable with Hillary, and don’t like being accused of “banana republic” tactics.

Focusing the investigation on those in the FBI and DOJ who did the sham investigation sidesteps much of that response, and focuses on the biggest problem affecting our trust in the DOJ and FBI.

I would still hope Hillary is ultimately made accountable, but sending the message that covering for someone in your administration leaves you open to investigation under a new administration would do us a world of good.

“The revelation about these edits, long before the evidence was gathered, is particularly troubling…”

We should refuse to follow the politicians’ and pundits’ use of namby-pamby adjectives like “troubling” and “worrisome” for what the FBI and the rest of the Deep State have done. Those terms are chosen by those scum to frame this matter as something less than the criminal, seditious outrage that it manifestly is.

Saw an interview today on Fox that supported not further investigating Hillary Clinton because she had lost the election because “she was a corrupt person” so no further action is required.
I guess if I think I might break the law, I should run, probably for some hopeless seat, so that my failure to get elected would mean I can break the law at my leisure.
Just saying

The whole criminal enterprise should be prosecuted and then jailed.

AND THIS INCLUDES Obama. He had to know what was happening, and just let this lawlessness slide. He needs to be in a cell right next to Hillary and a few others. The swamp critters will cringe when they see the head players paying the price for their criminality.

The FBI,DOJ,IRS,EPA,CFPB,FEC, have all been Democratic Party arms since Bill Clinton. The unionization of these agencies and the amalgamation of the Federal employee unions into the Democratic Party have turned America into a state run by white collar criminals that detest other Americans. Because they know a single call by themselves can destroy any business but those protected by the Party.

True. The elimination of patronage and creation of the “civil service” was a big mistake.

Soooo much better to clear out the entire ranks of the govt. than to suffer these burrowed partisans in non-partisan clothing.

unionization === (D) and === patronage, which is what civil services was supposed to get rid of.

And prosecute Comey, McCabe, Strzok, and others.

I think I saw the future today on Tucker Carlson’s show. He had Alan Dershowitz on and he said he did not think that hillary should be prosecuted although she was probably guilty. He also said that he didn’t think that Trump would go after her. That doesn’t mean that someone’s head will not roll but it won’t be hers. Remember Sandy Berger, the guy caught with secret papers stuffed in his socks and underwear? If that wasn’t a case of obvious state secret theft I can not imagine what would be.
The swamp does not indict its own Trump or no.

That Comey is a piece of work.

His sanctimonious tweets. . . .

Somebody needs to cut him down to size.

He has an inflated sense of his own value.

Comey is a traitorous scum, but events have thus far confirmed that his sense of his own value is accurate: even though he’s confessed to criminal conduct (e.g., leaking of confidential gov’t materials to bring about an investigation of Trump) no one has dared to issue a warrant for his arrest.

The fact that he’s still a free man is strong evidence that he’s quite valuable to some very important people

I think the IG report due out in January will start the avalanche and remember ,the Democrats will be the ones who requested it back when Comey and the Democrats had their lovers spat after the beast lost.
I think that will be the catalyst ,Democrats requested it,Democrat IG Horowitz did it ,now they will have to take their medicine .
Trump will tweet something to the effect that it is in DOJs hands now.
Will Granny Sessions wimp out??

American Human | December 15, 2017 at 7:18 am

Sorry, as much as HRC needs to be prosecuted, nothing will ever happen to her.
There are Two Americas just as John Edwards said, however the two are The Elected Class and The Little People.
Only the Little People will be prosecuted for crimes.

After Comey spent 15 minutes laying out, in brutal detail, all of Hillary’s misdeeds and lies …

I seriously doubt he even mentioned all of them. Since the fix was already in—as we now know, but only suspected at the time—all he was going to mention were the ones we already knew about. And by the time the FBI actually got around to interviewing Hillary, Comey had already made the decision to let her off … so the major bulk of the investigation was probably never even performed.

He added, “The edited statement deleted the reference to gross negligence – a legal threshold for mishandling classified material – and instead replaced it with an exculpatory sentence.”

In my Rocket Scientist days, I never heard about any “legal threshold”—you violated the procedures, or you didn’t. Neither “gross” nor “negligence” were ever mentioned … in fact, no excuses seemed to exist. Of course it could all have been fake even then; I never tested the system to find out.

Whether there are grounds to prosecute Hillary never has been legitimately determined by the FBI and DOJ.

I wouldn’t say that. I see no room whatever for doubt that the crimes are real, they were committed by Hillary and her lackeys, and if those aren’t grounds for prosecution, perhaps the English language should just retire the phrase “law and order” and fob us off with plain old Orwellian “order”.

Frankly, Trump can revoke their security clearance and their value to DC goes down by an order of magnitude.

Perhaps it would be better to investigate the investigators and her enablers for their misconduct first.

Ultimately, Hillary is only as powerful as her enablers, and it will do more to deter this kind of thing in the future, if career bureaucrats know that their jobs are dependent on following the law.

I don’t think that Comey ever expected to have to deliver that letter to the public. Much of it was written long before Slick Willy just happened to cross paths with Loretta Lynch at the airport. I think it was written in a way to give Lynch an out without discrediting himself and his department. It blew up in his face though as we now know. He owns it and now he has to face the music.

Here is an alternate proposal. Do not investigate or prosecute Hillary and her associates in crime, but also stop the Mueller investigation and drop the proceedings against Flynn and Maniforth. The government should then move on to business of managing the country to the extent it is mandated by the constitution. Hillary needs to also go-away and the democrats need to accept the election results and stop their obstruction.

Michael Johnson | December 15, 2017 at 11:20 am

You make a perfectly valid case to re-open the investigation. But I thought the most important point that Comey made at the time was that there was “no intent”. Not only does gross negligence not require intent, but lying to investigators and destruction of evidence are sufficient proof for intent.

The Servergate case was a blatant violation of the law and a prosecutorial slam dunk in 2016 and it still is today. Not pursuing it was a decision made for political expediency, by the Trump administration. Political expediency may well revive it.

Almost the entire Washington Establishment will work assiduously to block any indictment of HRC. The reason is simple. The Clintons were the bagmen for the Washington elite for years, through the Clinton Foundation. That was the reason why Trump said that he would not push for an indictment of Hillary. He needed, and still needs, Washington politicians to get his entire agenda done. While it would be nice to see justice done, with regard to the Clintons, is was not worth derailing the MAGA agenda.

Things have changed, however. Politically, this might be a very good time to reopen Servergate. It will be difficult because of the embedded obstructionists in the DOJ, but it might just put sufficient pressure on the Establishment to cave on certain Trump agenda points. If the agenda is stalled anyway, then a political civil war in Washington might not be such a bad idea. With the midterms looming close association with an indicted Clinton might make some sitting Congress Critters get in line. Or, it might force more Republican retirements. The downside to reopening the Servergate investigation is, once opened, it will have to result in an indictment of HRC. The evidence is simply too overwhelming for the Trump administration to fail to indict. Once it begins, it is all out war. And, that is what is holding up the administration revisiting Servergate. Full blown political civil war.

Lock Hag Up!

This crop of hypercrooks will have to give a full account of their traitorous shenanigans, and their kingpin, Barry Soetoro
needs affirmative action, the likes of which he’s never dreamed of.

Does anyone think for a moment, all this near-fatal stuff happening to the US in the last few years came about by accident?
Remember his line about”fundamental transformation”?
Sonofabitch knew what he was talking about.

The Traitor actions of H.R.C. & Obama are enough that MANY people should be ” Hanged,” For acts against America. This should serve as a warning to future ” Traitors,” that you will pay for those acts. I know that there were many people involved. That is the main reason why they are trying to get rid of Pres. Trump. H.R.C., Had no accomplishments while in ANY office. She had nothing to run on. She did almost no campaigning. She is suprised she lost ? Why ? She was Promised the Presidency in 2008, When Obama was through. The ” Fix,” was in. That is two main reasons why she can’t accept defeat. ” The people have spoken, as Deplorable as we are to her & her people.

DeplorableLanie | December 15, 2017 at 2:14 pm

If the American people are to ever regain any faith in the justice system. She must be tried, found guilty AND spend time in jail. Otherwise we will NEVER trust the justice system. We will forever know that if you are rich and politically connected that you can literally get away with treason and suffer no consequences! Harsh but true.

Remember that all of this was possible because of the corrupt MSM that pretends to report news while broadcasting propaganda.

The MSM will do what they have to do to survive so they can continue to push the agenda in the future. Net neutrality rules would have helped them crush the truth in the future but that tool may be gone for them now.

“It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” — Joseph Goebbels

The MSM must shut this threat down fast. Watch for it. It is their job.

When I heard Director Comey use the term “extremely careless” in reference to Mrs. Clinton’s actions, I wondered if he might also refer to the Atlantic Ocean as “moist”.

Sessions is a stupid eunuch.

PersonFromPorlock | December 15, 2017 at 7:25 pm

I wonder how many ‘ordinary people’ there are out here with experience in handling classified material and knowledge of what happens to those who endanger it. Tens of millions, I suspect.

I’m not at all sure that the myth of Hillary’s innocence would survive the scorn all those people would pour on it.
