2024 FFF Submission Guidelines
* Carefully read the guidelines before submitting your film. *
GUIDELINES:
1 – Entrant must be enrolled as a student at a university, college, or other post-secondary institution at the time of production. Therefore, the entrant must include proof of student status at the time of production. Include a copy of a current student ID with your entry or email it to flamingofilmfest@gmail.com. FAU students and alumni are encouraged to submit.
2 – Films are limited to 20 minutes or less.
3 – Multiple submissions are allowed. However, each submission must be accompanied by the USD entry fee, determined by festival organizers.
4 – Films must be completed on or after JANUARY 1, 2022. Rough cuts may be considered, provided that if selected, a final cut is made available before scheduled programming.
5 – Foreign language films must be subtitled and/or captioned in English.
6 – A completed entry form must accompany all films. All forms, fees, and films must be received by the submission deadline. Only completed entries will be processed.
7 – Entrant confirms and warrants the required legal authority to submit the entry into the festival and to use all music, images, and content within the entry.
8 – Entrant permits usage of video clips and production stills (photos) from the film submission for promotional use online, on television and radio, in print, and at events.
9 – Entrant confirms that the submission is not publicly available online nor on any paid or free video-on-demand services.
SUBMISSIONS
1 – All submissions will be through FilmFreeway. The deadline for submissions is April 8, 2024. Deadlines and waivers, including GOLD discounts, are at the discretion of festival organizers and may be adjusted at any time.
NOTIFICATIONS
1 – All entrants will be notified by email or FilmFreeway when a film has been received.
2 – For publication purposes, entries selected will be required to supply three high-resolution stills from the film and at least one high-resolution photograph of the film’s director. Publicity and press materials will not be returned and become the property of the film festival. The Flamingo Film Festival has permission to use excerpts from any accepted film for promotional purposes.
3 – If accepted, entrants will be notified by email around April 20th, 2024. Within 24-48 hours of notification, entrants must provide relevant film info and a downloadable .mov or .mp4 via Dropbox, Google Drive, FilmFreeway, or Vimeo. If a film is not made available during this period, the film will be removed from programming.
4 – If a film is not accepted, the festival does not offer refunds nor technical or critical feedback.
ENTRY FEES
1 – Submission fees may follow different deadlines and are in USD per entry unless otherwise noted. GOLD members receive a 50% discount. That's cheap! Discounts and fee waivers are at the discretion of festival organizers.
RETURNS
1 – Due to a large number of entries, no physical submissions of materials are accepted.
CATEGORIES AND AWARDS
1 – Flamingo Film Festival reserves the right and has the discretion to change the submission category for an entry. Further, the festival reserves the right and has the discretion to add award categories, as well as suspend award categories.
2 – The Festival strives to recognize student achievements in film, video, and media. Ergo, the festival is juried and competitive. Payment of the entry fee does not guarantee a screening. Funds collected go to festival expenses. We work on a micro-budget and have expenses! The festival jury will present awards to films selected as "best" in whatever categories they see fit. There are no cash awards or honorariums.
