AUSTIN, Texas (Feb. 19, 2018) – The good news for Oklahoma Christian on Monday was that three players each recorded an eagle during the first round of the St. Edward's Invitational. The bad news? The Lady Eagles struggled most of the rest of the day.

OC posted a team score of 321 at Onion Creek Club and stood 10th in the 16-team field, 22 shots back of the leader, Tarleton State (Texas). Six of the teams ahead of OC are from the South Central Region, from which the Lady Eagles are trying to qualify for the NCAA Division II Super Regional in May.

Elizabeth Freeman, Kate Goodwin and Abigail Rigsby each had an eagle for OC. Freeman, a junior from Edmond, was OC's top player on the opening day of her team's spring golf season, shooting a 6-over-par 76 on the 5,802-yard course.

Goodwin, a junior from Tulsa, posted a 79 and was tied for 28th in the 90-woman field, while Rigsby, a sophomore from Courtenay, British Columbia, shot an 81 and was tied for 41st.

OC's other two starters this week are sophomore Ashton Nemecek (85, tied for 63rd) and freshman Shaley Goad (86, tied for 68th). Playing as an individual, OC freshman Felicity Wittenberg recorded three birdies en route to an 83 that put her in a tie for 55th.

The individual leaders after round one were Casey Wild of Tarleton State and Maria Regina Gonzalez of St. Mary's (Texas), who each shot a 73.

The final round will be played Tuesday.
