Dear Fellow Members and Friends:

It is with great sadness that I advise you of the death of one of the giants of our profession, The Honorable Arlin M. Adams (ret.) Judge Adams died last evening after a long and storied career. Judge Adams served with distinction as a Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His reputation as a Constitutional scholar was unrivaled. He formerly served as the Secretary of Public Welfare for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the national president of both the American Judicature Society and the American Philosophical Society.
 
Early in his career, Judge Adams served as clerk to Chief Justice Horace Stern.
Among his many accomplishments and accolades, Judge Adams was Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, received the Bar Association’s Bar Medal, the Philadelphia Award, and the Jewish Law Day Award.
