LIVE PAIN FREE - E-ZINE
Hi

It's my life's mission to help as many people as possible get out of pain, so they can lead a more productive, fulfilling and happy life.

In this weekly e-zine, I will be giving you free hints and tips based on what has worked in my professional experience which spans more than two decades. I hope you find it useful.

Lower Back Pain & Bulging Discs

In between each vertebra of your spine lies a vertebral disc. The disc has a nucleus pulposus in the middle and an annulus fibrosus around the outside. Due to pressures, particularly compression and twisting, placed on the spine, the disc can bulge or herniate (where the nucleus perforates through the annulus) which may compress a spinal nerve root causing pain. It is also possible to have a bulging disc without causing pain. The most common part of the disc to bulge or herniate is the posterior lateral part where it is not supported by the posterior longitudinal ligament. Seated sports such as rowing and cycling and sports that require spinal flexion and rotation, such as cricket, golf and baseball are particularly vulnerable. Symptoms Include Mild to severe aching pain, tingling, muscular weakness, paralysis or numbness. Pain may be felt in the lower back, gluteals, the hamstrings, calves and foot or a combination of these.

To overcome this condition, a fully holistic programme including corrective exercise, nutrition & lifestyle coaching, plus end-stage rehabilitation is required for a full recovery to sport and every day activities.
