Ward 1 Alderman Vacancy
The City of Parkville is looking to fill a vacancy as Ward 1 Alderman following the resignation by Alderman Kevin Heaton effective January 1, 2018. Mayor Johnston will nominate and appoint, with Board of Aldermen approval, a replacement to serve until the next municipal election on April 2, 2019. Qualifications for the Ward 1 Board of Aldermen vacancy are as follows:
  • Resident of Ward 1 (ward map below)
  • 18 years of age
  • United States citizen
  • Resident of the city for 1 year
  • Registered voter
  • Current on any city taxes or user fees
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018. The appointment is tentatively planned to begin in February following a special meeting of the Board of Aldermen (subject to change). Candidate Filing for April 3, 2018 Election
 
Candidate filing for the April 3, 2018, general municipal election for the City of Parkville is underway. Candidates may file at City Hall, 8880 Clark Avenue, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. through January 16, 2018. Please note that City Hall will be closed for the holiday on January 15, 2018. Names of candidates shall be listed on the ballot in the order in which they are filed.

The following offices are open for filing for two-year terms:
        Alderman, Ward 1
        Alderman, Ward 2
        Alderman, Ward 3
        Alderman, Ward 4
        Municipal Judge

Parkville City Hall Closed
 
Parkville City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2018, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

Do you know the difference between a winter storm watch, warning, or advisory?
  • Winter Weather Advisory: Be Aware. An advisory informs you that winter weather may produce hazardous conditions.
  • Winter Storm Watch: Be Prepared. A watch means that severe winter conditions may affect your area. Issued to provide 12 to 36 hours' notice.
  • Winter Storm Warning: Take Action! A warning is issued when 4+ inches of snow or sleet is forecast in the next 12 hours, 6+ inches in 24 hours,
    or 1/4"+ of ice accumulation. Travel will become difficult. Delay your travel plans until conditions improve.
  • Blizzard Warning: Lets you know that snow and strong winds will combine to produce a blinding snow (near zero visibility), deep drifts and life-threatening wind chill.
Vehicle access to the dog parks in Platte Landing Park will be closed from 8:45am to 11:30am on Saturday, January 13th for the PR Mile event.
