Hello everybody!

The third record from Ant Orange on Karaoke Kalk is out now.

On Thursday, 8th March - there will be an outstanding lineup of musicians and singers at a really fascinating venue called UfaFabrik. It's actually the old German studio for movie
dubbing that had been abandoned after the build of the Berlin wall. In the seventies and eighties it was a squat and later became what it is today: A beautiful place for concerts, theatre, dance and cultural exchange… Now we are happy to announce that Jeff Özdemir & Friends are
doing a concert right there!
Guests on stage this time will be F.S. Blumm, Tigerlily, Sorry Gilberto, Elke Brauweiler (Paula, Commercial Breakup), Roderick Bell, and Amélie Legrand (of Elmer Kussiac).
Expect some beautiful music and a little live string section for the first time at a Jeff Oezdemir & Friends show!

Ant Orange's third 12" for Karaoke Kalk forms something resembling a trilogy for the label. "Right There" is built on a familiar Rhodes-n-bass aesthetic, combining the lo-fi jazz of 2017's Arkupe with the soulful vocal motifs of 2015's s/t, while introducing more electronic ingredients and taking an increasingly exploratory approach to rhythm and composition.

TG Mauss - Dear Stranger, Remixes

Karaoke Kalk 104 (12"/DL)

With his 3rd album Dear Stranger, Duesseldorf artist TG Mauss appeared 2013 for the first time on Berlins quality music label Karaoke Kalk. Proving once more his skills in meshing up folk pop with electronic music, he left a big mark at Hans Nieswandt (Whirlpool Productions), who now throws the track Ghosts into the club: a grooving funk bass played by Levent Canseven meets a rattling hi-hat and spacey soundeffects. Mauss´ voice makes the disco ball and our dancing hearts pause for a moment, just to explode on the dance floor. Directly into the next decade Mauss´ companion Thomas Klein (Kreidler, Sølyst, Clyne) beams us with his version of Sun King: his Wave Remix combines 80ies cold and metallic sound aesthetics to a electric dream. Thats what you call state-of-remix-art.

Astrobal - Memories Of Stars EP

´French electronic producer Astrobal has announced his forthcoming 'Memories of Stars' EP. Combining psychedelic soundings with soft pop. He is already previewing the lead track 'Australasie feat. Laetitia Sadier'. The accompanying video was produced by Patrice Curtillat (a.k.a. Poborsk), whose fantastic illustrations flow over the geography of Australasia, as clouds of drones and satellites float in the sky, before inevitably diving in a kaleidoscope from where one emerges on stellar landscapes, where colors and hybrid forms blossom like mechanical insects.

With Welcome F.S.Blumm has perfected the imperfect. Where other producers filter out the noise, pops and crackles, Blumm does the exact opposite. He reverses the roles of desired and undesirable sound.
What remains are songs like sculptures left in the wake of acoustic tracks.

Hannu Karjalainen - A Handful Of Dust Is A Desert

Finnish visual artist and filmmaker Hannu Karjalainen's music draws inspiration from ambient, drone, modern classical and dream pop. His first album Worms In My Piano was released in 2007 on Osaka Records and the second album, Hintergarten in 2009 on Simon Scott's Kesh Recordings. A Handful Of Dust Is A Desert, his third album – and the first under his full given name - arrives after a prolonged break.

Berlin-based musician and mass collaborator, Jeff Özdemir, is back with a new double vinyl and this time he’s gone for gold. With cinematographic soundscapes, thick bass lines, tangible percussion, eerie keys and charming vocals, this synergetic masterpiece treads the boundaries between jazz, Gameboy sounds, chanson, psychedelic desert, soul, minimal, seventies pop, dub, electronic and classical music with a hint of a John Carpenter-esque style to boot.

Toog - The prepared public

Following 2010s Goto Toog aka parisien musician, poet and filmmaker Gilles Weinzaepflen is back with his 3rd album on Karaoke Kalk, The Prepared Public.
What ensues is 18 tracks of bewildering beauty: both enchanting and baffling. Toog paints a mysterious sound picture blending piano melodies with field recordings, electronic sounds, acoustic guitar and french spoken word. This music effortlessly leaps from minimal ambience to dadaist moments which could be the soundtrack to a Tim Burton movie. The Prepared Public is as likely to perplex as it is delight, but no doubt, this is an album for the discerning listener.
