Hello all, I just wanted to include a press release (attached to this update) that was sent out last week by Beating bowel cancer and Bowel cancer UK that I was involved with. It was printed in the Sun newspaper as well as The Mail online, so some brilliant coverage there. It explains the importance of implementing the new bowel cancer screening test FIT, which is far more sensitive than the previous FOB testing. It is imperative that this is put into place as quickly as possible, to ensure that people are given the best chances of being diagnosed early. My hope is that once the FIT test has been implemented for those aged 60 and over, that the way will be paved towards also offering screening from age 50 across the U.K. Also, we are now at over 400,000 signatures!!!! Completely and utterly amazing. I set up this petition thinking that we could perhaps garner a few hundred signatures, and raise a bit of awareness of Bowel Cancer, as well as fighting toward my aim of lowering the screening age for bowel cancer. Never in my wildest imagination could I have foreseen that we would get to this stage! You're all utterly brilliant, we'd never be so close to our aim without every single one of you! A small side note also to add, is that I will be running the London Marathon (eek!) in April for Beating bowel cancer and Bowel cancer U.K, in memory of my amazing Mum, Fiona. The work this charity does in supporting those who have been affected by bowel cancer is truly wonderful, and their support of this campaign has been invaluable.
