More Ayrshire youngsters will soon be able to take advantage of top-class tuition thanks to a brand new education centre opening later this month.

Previously located on Wellington Square in Ayr’s city centre, Kip McGrath is set to relocate to 11 River Street on January 6, taking over premises almost twice the size of their last home.

Owned and run by former assistant principal teacher, Liz McKay, the centre provides English and maths tuition for students aged four to 18, who are sitting their National 4, National 5 and Higher Grade examinations.

“Over the past five years I have built up a team of fully qualified, PVG checked, experienced teachers who have provided tuition to hundreds of students in Ayrshire,” explained Liz.

“As a result of our continued growth, it is time for a change. The present centre has become cramped but the new premises are almost twice the size and will give us the room we now require.

“The move will ensure that the tuition for each student continues to be as thorough and successful as it has been so far.”

Liz McKay is a former assistant principal teacher and now runs the Kip McGrath centre in Ayr

First established in Australia in 1976, there are now more than 500 Kip McGrath centres around the world, including 30 in Scotland.

Liz and her team of qualified teachers use a learning system that has been designed by trained and experienced educators to supplement school-based learning – lessons combine the latest interactive technology with manual activities to engage children and promote active education.

Unlike in a traditional classroom, students follows an individually designed learning programme prepared specifically for them by the centre.

Parents and children are being encouraged to attend the centre’s opening day on January 6 from 2pm, where they will get the chance to meet the team, enjoy face painting and games, and even win blocks of English and maths lessons.

Bill Grant, local MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock, will formally open the centre.
