Contemporary artist Chintan Upadhyay was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murders of his estranged wife Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Haresh Bhambhani. Chintan was detained late on Monday after a new piece of evidence emerged.

They were also at loggerheads over a Juhu apartment that they jointly owned. Hema's family told the media last week that nobody but Chintan had a motive to kill her. Fabrication worker Vidyadhar Rajbhar, in whose warehouse the murders were allegedly committed, is still on the run. Vidyadhar used to look after Chintan's work in the past.
