We are welcoming the New Year with our Annual Secrets of Taoist Shamanic Healing Workshop.
A sharing that arose from our Talk the other week:
Growing up in Africa, my first shamanic experiences was medicine man/shaman on the farm in Kenya, who said that my hands had healing power. Nthenge Ngubi was his name and he had a game leg and a young, beautiful wife. We would go to him if the rains were late, or a crop had some mysterious illness, or a baby was born with a strange growth. But one day his wife came down with a fever and he came to me. I went to see her and went along the track towards the boys accommodation. It was a quieter night, only the hooting of an owl or the crash of a buffalo gave warning that there was anything else around. I came to a house with lights outside. She lay looking at the wall - which was round of course. I took her hands in mine. They felt hot. Hot and dry. She had a headache, she told me. I didn't know what to do. so I joined her, staring at the wall. After a minute or two, or half-and-hour or more, she stirred. 'What time is it?' she said. I never knew her name. 'Eight thirty,' I replied. Whereupon she arose and went about her business!
The were from the Wakamba tribe, which I was initiated as an honorary member. Dancing in their drum-circles I witnessed the fire-bath, where adepts fell in flames and were unharmed.

Taoist Shamanic Healing: How It All Began:
"The Shaman became the Healer in the community and, particularly in the Taoist tradition, is known only to the community, unknown in the Outer World. This secrecy stems from the days of the Buddhist persecutions. As Healing Warrior, the Shaman mediates with, or combats, Spirit, by taking into her or himself the energies, to heal and to seal."

And just about three years ago surprise kidney stones:
"...I had many more stones in my kidneys, all waiting to pass. ‘Can they go away?’ I asked. ‘Fraid not, said the doctor with a hope-killing smile. ‘Best you can do is prevent more from forming,’ and handed me a folder of instructions about diet and weight and lifestyle.
The campaign began. Chinese herbs, Poruguese herbs, drink water, plenty water, more water. (...) And shamanic healing, talking to the stones. Why are you here? What is the learning you have come to give me? Find a new home! Visualising them dissolving, pouring down into the earth, colors fading.
I felt no recurrence of any pain. Five months later I went for another scan. No stones! All gone!
