Ten Civic Clubs within the City of De Pere have joined together to set aside a day to honor the services of their public safety servants.
Monday on De Pere Police Chief Derek Beiderwieden and Fire Chief Alan Matzke stopped by Local 5 This Morning Monday ahead of the February 27 event.
These Civic Clubs will be hosting a dinner at the Swan Club on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 to recognize the contributions of our bravest and finest public safety servants. The reception begins at 5:00 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:00 p.m. and the ceremony beginning at 6:45 p.m.
The Rotary Club of De Pere; the Kiwanis Club of De Pere; the De Pere Optimist Club; the Woman’s Club of De Pere; the Men’s Club of De Pere; De Pere Knights of Columbus; Pink Flamingos; Celebrate De Pere; De Pere VFW Post 2113 and its Auxiliary and the De Pere Lions Club have all joined together for a single community project. These civic clubs will work as one to thank and recognize an outstanding De Pere police officer(s) and an outstanding De Pere fire fighter(s) for their unselfish service to our community during the previous twelve months.
All of the Civic Clubs felt strongly that it’s the perfect time for an outward expression of appreciation and unwavering support for our police officers and fire fighters.
Officer Kevin DuBois has been selected as the Police Department’s award recipient for displaying a long-term commitment and performance of duties over an extended period of time to the students and the citizens of the City of De Pere. Captain Edmund Balcer and Fire Fighter Paramedics Ron Cody and Shaun Corroy will be honored for their professionalism, compassion and humanity.
The De Pere High School’s Chorus will perform several musical selections honoring our public safety members and their families.
Officer DuBois, Captain Balcer and Fire Fighter Paramedics Cody and Corroy will be presented with individual awards acknowledging their outstanding service to the City of De Pere. Further, each one will receive a monetary award to be donated to the charity of their choosing, in their name.
Local 5 This Morning’s Brittany Falkers will be the Master of Ceremonies for this important event.
