BOX SCORE WACO, Texas - Prairie View A&M dropped its fourth straight game as they never recovered from a big first half by Baylor en route to a 60-45 loss in the opener of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Invitational.
The Panthers had a solid start to open the game as they led for the first five minutes before three consecutive turnovers allowed Baylor back into the contest and eventually a 10-8 deficit at the 14:18 mark. Senior guard John Brisco did his best to keep the Panthers in the game with a pair of three-pointers but the shots stopped falling immediately thereafter as a 15-14 PVAMU deficit turned into a 24-14 Baylor lead after a 9-0 run.
Jacoby Green's three-pointer drew the Panthers within 24-17 with 8:23 left but Baylor countered with a 7-0 run four minutes later en route to a 37-22 halftime margin.
Karim York opened the second half with a trey to draw the Panthers within 12 but that would mark the closest PVAMU would get within the Bears as Baylor maintained its double-digit lead through the duration of the half party due to PVAMU's three-point woes (1-of-7).
Brisco and York both led PVAMU with 13 points while York and Reggis Onwukamuche finished with five rebounds apiece. Senior guard Tre Hagood dished out seven assists with three rebounds.
