Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jays' offense provides plenty in win over Drew

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team's nationally-ranked attack was back at it again on Saturday in its 5-0 shutout win over Drew. Lauren Berry and Maddie Burkhardt each scored twice while Kaceyanne Cerankowski also added a goal. It was E-town seventh straight victory.

While Elizabethtown (12-3, 5-1 Landmark) did not record a goal in the first few minutes of the game as it has been accustomed to doing, the Jays did manage to score four times in the first half.

Cerankowski crossed the ball into the middle of the box from the end line in the 14th minute. Deanna Slater was on the receiving end, taking a touch and sending a shot off the inside of the left post. The rebound came directly to Berry, who touched it home for her first of the game and eighth of the season.

Burkhardt stole the ball from a defender outside the box, took a few dribbles to free herself on the right and sent a shot toward the far post and in for her seventh of the season and first of two in the game.

A minute later, Berry was on the board again to make it 3-0 over Drew (5-10, 2-3 Landmark) in the 22nd minute. Trisha Clark's shot attempt was blocked by a defender in the box, but Berry was in the right place at the right time to pounce on the loose ball and score her second of the game.

Cerankowski assisted on Burkhardt's second of the game in the 30th minute. Berry sent the junior midfielder down the left side, where she took a touch to stop the ball and spotted Burkhardt advancing down the opposite side of the field. She played a square ball across the top of the 18-yard box onto the foot of Burkhardt, who took one touch before sending her shot left for the goal.

E-town made it 5-0 in the 49th minute. Slater sent Burkhardt down the right sideline, where she sent the ball into the middle of the box for Cerankowski. Cerankowski collected the ball and deposited it into the right side netting for her team-leading 11th of the year.

Dana Robidoux did not need to make a save as she played the first 45 minutes before Hailey Parks came on for the second half. Parks had a diving save in the 47th minute to parry the ball away from goal and keep the shutout intact. It was the Jays ninth shutout of the season.

The women's soccer team has already locked up a spot in the conference semifinals and will finish no lower than second in the Landmark. They finish out the regular season on Saturday, November 1 at Scranton.
