I’m writing to ask you to please approve the Emergency Supplemental Request for Ebola. This funding will help stop the Ebola virus in its tracks and communities in West Africa can begin to heal from what has been one of the deadliest Ebola outbreaks in history. Ebola continues to spread throughout West Africa and the rest of the world. Cases have been reported in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, Spain and the United States. To date there have been 15,000 confirmed cases of Ebola virus infection, with an estimated 5000 deaths. Communities in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia have been brought to a standstill during this emergency as they fight for their families and their future. Businesses in West Africa struggle to function without healthy employees, schools cannot teach without healthy teachers and hospitals are unable care for the sick without a strong band of healthcare workers. As your constituent, I’d like to ask you to help stop this outbreak at its source and please approve the Emergency Supplemental Request. Thank you.
